Building a profitable online business takes many puzzle pieces to do work. There is the design and layout of your website, the products you choose to sell, and, last but not least, the best ways to get traffic to your website. 

This last one, getting traffic, is a biggie. No matter how beautiful your website is or how great your product is, if no one sees your site, you won’t make any sales, and you will be out of business in no time. 

This is where many newcomers to an online business mess up. They don’t understand that most of the online courses they can buy are geared to teaching different methods of driving traffic to your website. 

They will buy one course after another, looking for something to work quickly and easily. When they realize that there is no such thing (there are many effective ways of driving traffic online, and some of them work faster and are easier to do than others, but there is no magic bullet), they will either give up or go buy another “sure thing” course and repeat the whole process. 

Don’t do this to yourself. Don’t chase your tail around and around until you are broke. Instead, find one way to drive traffic, stick with it until you are driving enough traffic to be making money, then learn another. Keep that pattern up until you are making all the money you want to make. 

If you want to speed up the process a little bit, a good option is to hire someone to implement more than one traffic generation strategy as part of an overall online marketing campaign

Having someone do it for you, someone who has more experience than you and can dedicate themselves to just this one thing will allow your business to grow more quickly. 

This strategy will help your business grow more quickly for two reasons: one, it frees you up to do other things, so your time is better spent, and two, it allows an expert to implement multiple traffic generation methods at one time right from the beginning. You probably couldn’t do that independently since you probably don’t have that level of knowledge or that much time. 

If you can afford it and don’t immediately assume you can’t look around first, this is a great way to go. It can help speed up the process of building your online business

If you can’t afford to hire someone to build an online marketing campaign for you at this point, don’t worry. You can still build your business on your own by implementing one strategy first and then adding another and another until you are making all the money you want to make.

There are several online marketing promotion strategies. You need to find the combination that brings pre-targeted traffic to your website to make sales. The big online marketing promotion strategies that I will cover in this article include pay per click, search engine optimization, and article marketing.

Pay per click will give you the quickest bang for your buck. You will be able to evaluate your success immediately when you use PPC. Unfortunately, this means putting some of your money on the line. Google’s Adwords program does not require you to pay for up to a month, but you will be in debt if you don’t make money back immediately.

When you do pay-per-click marketing as an online marketing promotion, you write a short ad (usually 90-125 characters) that appears alongside the search results on Google, Yahoo, or MSN. Your ads may also appear on relevant web pages if you don’t turn that feature off.

The position of your ad will depend on a combination of the amount you are willing to pay for each visitor and the percentage of people who see your ad and are willing to click through. Therefore, writing a good ad for low competition keywords is the way you make money with pay per click.

Now, you don’t have to pay to show up on Google’s search, but you do have to work for it. You no longer get visitors just because you build a website. You have to entice Google to list you.

If you want Google to list you high in their search rankings, you must do several things on your website to attract the computer programs (also called “spiders”) that Google and the other search engines run to determine search ranking.

Your site itself must be search engine friendly which involves having the right coding in your HTML and contextually driven content. You should also update your site frequently, adding more pages to improve your search results.

But you also have to build a web of links to your site. You can do this by submitting your website to directories, making blog posts about your website, and posting to classified sites. One of the best ways to build links is to submit articles to article directories.

Article directories have two valuable purposes for online marketing promotion. One is to build links that increase your site’s chance to be indexed in the search engines.

But there is another valuable feature to placing articles about your topic on article directories. Established directories have high page rank themselves, and the article you place will benefit from that. When someone types in a search term related to your site, it might not show up, but if you have submitted an article to a directory, your article might. Once the person reads the valuable content you have submitted in the article, they will be induced to click to the website that you list in your resource box. Some of the best article directories include EzineArticles, GoArticles, and IdeaMarketers.

A variation on the article directory is Squidoo. On Squidoo, you create a lens which is several short articles, and refer visitors to your site for more information. Squidoo also offers various tools such as embedded YouTube videos, polls, and guest books which make it a unique visitor experience.

There are many ways to get visitors to your site. Pay Per Click, Search Engine Optimization, and Article Marketing are three online marketing promotion strategies.

A Must For Today Online Marketing

There was a time when having a website would virtually guarantee that you would be noticed and that you could capitalize on having an online presence. To be blunt, those days are long gone. In today’s business world, you must have a full online marketing strategy to achieve any gains from your website, and yes, every business needs a website. 

Many people like to spread the myth that traditional marketing and online marketing are the same things. Many of the principles are the same, but their application varies so widely that they are not synonymous. There is no question that the medium used for advertising will dictate how you can effectively market that medium. 

For example, you may capture people’s email addresses by placing an ad in the newspaper, but it would be much more effective to get their email addresses from them while they are online. The point is that an online marketing strategy requires a different way of thinking than traditional marketing, though you may notice some similarities.

Whom are you going to sell your stuff to online? 

That seems like a simple question, but every other part of your online marketing strategy is based on it. It’s easy to think that putting up a website will somehow draw people to your offer and that sales will magically start coming in. This comes down to getting the word out in as many places as you can, using as many relevant methods as you can (remember to keep your market in mind). You should also test and track all of your advertising and then make changes as necessary. 

Once your income starts flowing in, be sure to reinvest some of it into your marketing efforts. However, having an online marketing strategy is not enough. You have to put it into action before you start to see all of the positive results.
