For the most part, the adage keep it simple is the best one to follow. Videos will work extremely well in driving customers to your website and converting more visitors into paying customers, but just like anything, if you don’t do it right, it won’t do anything for you at all. 

You don’t need a ton of pricey equipment either. Depending on the type of video you want to create, an actual movie shot with a video camera or a screen capture presentation with narration, the software and tools you need to make them are readily and cheaply available. You shouldn’t have to invest more than a few hundred dollars for the software, camera, tripod, and microphone. 

Please don’t get too caught up in the idea of making a video, many people can get very intimidated by this process, but you don’t need to. You don’t have to be on the video if you don’t want to. If you are making a screen capture type of video, you won’t be on it at all, and even if you’re making a demonstration video, you either don’t have to show yourself on camera or have someone else on camera. The point is that don’t let foolish fears keep you from using this extremely powerful tool.

Another concept to keep in mind is that while you don’t need to have a professional-grade video, you need to make it appealing to your viewers; if you don’t, they won’t be viewers. For one thing, make sure that the quality of the audio and video is good. Make sure that they can hear and understand what you are saying. 

Do not, I repeat, do not stammer, stutter, and fill your videos with a lot of ‘um’ all the way through. If you make a mistake while you are narrating, start again. No one wants to listen to someone who can’t seem to string more than one sentence together at a time, and it’s painful.

If you don’t think you can do it, get someone to do it for you. Another thing that can help is to outline the points you want to cover in the order you want to cover them. This can help keep you on target when you’re narrating. 

Keep your video short, usually around 3 to 5 minutes long. This isn’t a video course, and it’s just a snippet to get them interested in learning more and getting them to go to your website; short and sweet is best. 

Make sure you include the URL of your website in the video and the description you supply when you submit your video to a video directory. Use keywords for your video’s title, tags, and description to get as much traffic as possible. Using these video marketing concepts will help you get the biggest bang out of your online video buck.

With the continuing decline in the attention span of most of the people online, it’s only inevitable that more advertisers would turn to video as a way to get their message out. Suppose you’re new to online marketing or a ‘newbie,’ then you’ll want to learn as much as possible about video marketing for newbies. It’s not tough, and all indications are that it’s the wave of the future.

You can use videos on your website or blog to capture the attention of your reader far more quickly and effectively (if it’s done right) than you could with just the printed word. You can also use videos to drive traffic to your website or blog. The search engines love fresh content, and that includes new videos.

The basic steps to the process are pretty much the same as with article marketing, except, of course, you are creating a video. Once you’ve decided on the topic of your video and you’ve got a rough ‘script’ written, it’s time to incorporate some carefully chosen keywords. This will make it possible for your video to get a top ranking on the search engines.

When you write the title, description, or tags for your website, you will use these keywords. If you’ve chosen good keywords (3-5 word keyword phrases that get high monthly searches with relatively low competition), then your video will rank well; if it ranks well, you will get a ton of very qualified traffic to your website… for free!

Now that you’ve got your video recorded and your title tags and description keywords optimized (with the URL of your website’s front and center), the next step is to submit your video to video directories. I’m sure most of you have heard of YouTube, which is a great place to start. You can also search and find other online video directories where you can submit your video to.

That’s pretty much it in a nutshell. You can record a PowerPoint Presentation where you illustrate how to do something, or you can do a screen capture style video where people are looking over your shoulder while you do something; either way, you’ll have great success with video marketing for newbies if you follow these tips.

Marketing Video Production - Tips For Getting It Right

When it comes to using video production, quality has to be good, but don’t think that means you have to hire actors and pay thousands of dollars. One of the great advantages of using video to promote your online business is that it allows your prospective customers to get to know you; it takes away a lot of the anonymity of the internet, that’s why it should be all you in front of the camera.

Of course, just because you aren’t paying thousands of dollars for a professionally produced marketing video doesn’t mean it has to look like a third-grader made it. It would be best if you always strived for quality video and audio as well as a smooth-flowing script.

I can’t tell you how annoying it is to try and watch a video online, a tutorial-style video where someone is trying to explain how to do something and have to listen to someone who can’t run two coherent sentences together. What a waste of my time!

So, the first thing you should do is to decide the exact topic of your video. Remember, you won’t have much time; most videos will only be between 3-5 minutes long. So make sure the video is very specific.

Next, write up an outline (an outline is probably better than an actual script since you want to sound still natural and honest instead of faked and rehearsed).

If you illustrate how to do something online and you will be loading other websites, going to Google, etc., pause the recording while waiting for search results to load. I know you are trying to explain things in real-time, but no one wants to sit around and wait for your screens to load.

Also, make sure that you don’t give away the ‘whole farm.’ While you want to provide people with valuable and helpful information, ultimately, you want them to buy your product or service, so you can’t tell them everything. Just give them little tidbits of information.

Once you’ve got a great video made (from the standpoint that the video and audio are clean and the narration is easy to follow and on target), you will want to submit that video to video directories. When you submit the video, make sure that you include relevant keywords in the title, tags, and description. That way, your video will get picked up by the search engines and send much free targeted traffic to your website.

Using video for online marketing is the way of the future. It’s easy, inexpensive, and very effective if you do it right. It takes away a lot of the impersonal aspects of doing business online, and people can see you and listen to you, making it easier for them to form a connection with you.

Make sure that your marketing video production levels are good. No one expects a commercial-grade video, and that would probably turn people off anyway, make it something worth sitting through.
